Simply Elegant

Real elegance is knowing the balance.  Quality materials, clean lines, and timeless style.  Elegance is an expression of worth, not monetary, but of substance.  It is a value that says more about the person than his bank account.  It is also about the details.

In Colonial America, the arts and crafts that adorned most of the homes were often simple and folksy.  A quilt was way of making a useful item that was also beautiful.  This quilt hangs in the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Museum in Williamsburg and is an excellent example of fine needlework and political expression.  Done all in white, it is timeless piece that is simply elegant.

  1. Thank you Sheryl. This was by far the show stopper in my opinion but there were many other more colorful quilts in the collection. Just imagine the converstations that took place over that quilt as it was designed and sewn. Busy hands indeed.
